Why visit
The Spur branches east from the High Line at West 30th Street and Tenth Avenue. Opened in 2019, it completed the park's reuse of the surviving historic rail structure and creates a broader urban room than the narrow linear passages found along much of the elevated route.
What to see
Large planters, seating and overlooks frame views toward Midtown, Hudson Yards and the street grid. The space projects above Tenth Avenue, exposing the heavy steel infrastructure beneath the planting and making the original railway junction legible within the contemporary landscape design.
Plan your visit
A prominent pedestal called the Plinth supports a rotating sequence of monumental contemporary art commissions, each installed for an extended period as part of the skyline. The combination of public gathering space, industrial artifact and changing sculpture gives the Spur a distinct role from the gardens and walking paths elsewhere on the High Line.
