Why visit
The Wild Asia Monorail is a seasonal ride through roughly forty acres at the Bronx Zoo. Small open-sided trains follow an elevated loop above the Bronx River and wooded animal habitats, creating long views across terrain that is deliberately less formal than the zoo's historic central courts.
What to see
Species visible along the route can include Asian elephants, Indian rhinoceroses, wild horses, deer and other hoofed mammals, although animals move freely within their habitats and every circuit differs. Recorded interpretation links the collection with ecology and Wildlife Conservation Society field programs across Asia.

The monorail opened in 1977 as part of a broader shift toward large geographic exhibits. Because the route crosses areas not otherwise reached by public paths, transport and exhibition become the same experience; seasonal operation, weather and animal care can affect availability without changing the exhibit's core conservation landscape.
