Why dine here
Payal Saha founded The Kati Roll Company after moving from Kolkata to New York and missing her hometown’s street food. The first shop opened in Greenwich Village in 2002; the Midtown West branch carries the same focused format of skewered fillings rolled in freshly prepared flatbread.
What to expect
Chicken and steak tikka are marinated with yogurt and spices before grilling, while shami kabab combines minced lamb, lentils and herbs. Achari paneer, chana masala and spiced potato cover vegetarian ground, and a beaten egg can be cooked directly onto the bread for an unda roll.
Before you go
Each filling comes in buttery, layered paratha or a roasted whole-wheat roti, then gains lime-cilantro chutney, pickled and sautéed onions, and chaat masala. The company states that all its meat is certified halal and that marinades, spices and sauces are prepared in-house.
