SoHo’s retail district spreads through the cast-iron blocks south of Houston Street, especially along Broadway, Prince, Spring, Greene and Mercer streets. Large nineteenth-century loft buildings provide unusually deep interiors, while cobbled side streets and ornate façades keep the architecture visible between storefronts.
What you will find
Broadway carries major international and mass-market brands; Greene and Mercer lean toward luxury fashion, furniture and design; smaller side streets preserve independent clothing, jewellery, art and specialty shops. The result is not one formal centre but overlapping corridors whose character changes within a few blocks.

The Museum of Modern Art Design Store on Spring Street provides a durable design anchor, while galleries and furniture showrooms extend the category beyond apparel. Weekend foot traffic can be dense around Broadway, whereas the western streets generally offer a slower view of the cast-iron district and individual boutiques.
